Guernsey Property team settle into new 'home' office

The Property team at Collas Crill is settling into its new 'home' office environment and we can be reached in the usual way by email, mobile or our direct dials. We are continuing to work on all aspects of residential and commercial property transactions and our team has the ability to review and draft documents, advise on property matters and conduct online research, with the aim of completing matters and assisting as much possible during this time.

In our last update on 9 April, we confirmed that the current position with the Contracts Court is that it will sit to complete a transaction if it is contractually committed (and cannot be moved back) and/or absolutely essential. The advocate acting in the matter will need to justify to the Court why it must complete. The expectation is that advocates will seek to get the parties to the transaction to renegotiate completion dates unless it can be shown that it is an exceptional set of circumstances.

The Court in conjunction with the Property Bar are starting to prepare for the next phase with the hopeful gradual release of the current restrictions. Watch this space.

Our team is in constant contact with the Royal Court, providing as much practical advice as possible so we can all work together during this challenging time with the health and safety of staff and clients at the forefront. We will ensure any update from the Court is passed on so all our clients are well informed during this time.

Please contact one of our team if you have any queries or would like an update on our understanding of the current position with local lending banks and surveyors.
