The Work Permit Policy in relation to Intra-Company Transfers (ICT) has been amended by the Committee for Home Affairs in Guernsey.
This amendment allows trainees with a minimum of three months service with an overseas company which has a presence in Guernsey, to transfer to the company’s Guernsey office on a placement. At present a transferee must be employed for a minimum or 12 months before applying for a work permit. If successful, a work permit can be issued for up to 2 years.
Now, those with a minimum of 3 months service will be able to apply for an ICT for up to a maximum of 12 months. This change is an addition to the regime described above.
This is a great opportunity for both Guernsey and local employers. Not only does it bring us into line with the UK, it demonstrates Guernsey's flexibility. It will introduce potential skilled employees to the island, showing them what Guernsey has to offer in terms of employment and work-life balance. It demonstrates that Guernsey is open for business, that we are linked in to the global market and can assist in building and training those companies with both a Guernsey and international workforce.
